In Sitaare Zameen Par, a self-aware moment cleverly pokes fun at Aamir Khan’s signature moralistic cinema. During a tense basketball game, a team of neurodivergent players earns a crucial free throw in a losing match. Their coach, Gulshan, relentlessly pep-talks the shooter, only for Satbir (Aroush Datta) to snap, “Sir, pehle aap chup rahiye!”—demanding silence. It’s a sharp jab at Khan, India’s famously didactic superstar, who could use more such rebellious voices around him.

Khan’s directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par (2007), a groundbreaking film, cast him as Nikumbh, a compassionate art teacher guiding a dyslexic child in a boarding school.
